The Open Sun Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Donations make it possible to subsidize sessions for those in financial hardship, complete and publish the book, and slowly build the longer arc of programs, retreats, and teachers the foundation is growing toward. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Subsidized sessions for those in need. Individual sessions are offered on a sliding scale, with reduced rates and full subsidies available to those in financial hardship. Donor support makes this possible.

Educational content. Donations fund the development, editing, and publication of written work — beginning with Disarming the Mind, currently in preparation.

The longer arc. The foundation is in its first chapter. Early support helps build the structure that will make group programs, retreats, additional teachers, and eventually a dedicated space possible.

The work of one person, supported by many. The Open Sun is currently the work of a single founder. Donations sustain that work and allow it to continue and grow.

    • Educational content. The research, writing, and publication of books and other materials — beginning with Disarming the Mind.

    • Community partnerships. Collaborations and outreach that extend access to those who would not otherwise encounter this work.

    As a lean organization, the vast majority of every dollar goes toward the work itself — sessions, writing, and the foundation's development — with only a small fraction reserved for administrative needs.

  • Early donations are 'seed' investments. They allow us to build the digital infrastructure, publish our first series of educational materials, and enables the delivery of subsidized services including individual sessions, counseling, and mentorship to those in financial hardship.

  • Yes. You can select the "Monthly" option on the donation form above. Recurring gifts provide the steady, predictable support that allows the foundation to plan beyond month-to-month and commit to longer-term projects.

  • Many companies will double or even triple your impact by matching your gift. Check with your HR department to see if they participate, or contact us at luisrietti@theopensun.com for assistance with the paperwork.

  • We are currently in the process of expanding our giving options to include cryptocurrency and appreciated securities. If you are interested in making a gift of stock or crypto, please contact us directly at luisrietti@theopensun.com. We will work with you personally to facilitate the transfer and ensure you receive the proper documentation for your records.

  • We take data security very seriously. All online donations are processed through a secure, PCI-compliant payment gateway with industry-standard encryption to ensure your information is protected.

  • Yes. You will receive an immediate email confirmation after your donation is processed. For one-time gifts over $250 or for your total annual giving, we will also send a formal year-end tax acknowledgement by January 31st.
